Colts Sign Justin King

Earlier today the Colts signed former St. Louis Rams cornerback Justin King.  King (5-11, 197 pounds) started 12 games in St. Louis last year.  He notched 58 tackles, 5 pass deflections, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery during the 2011 campaign.  In his 4 year career (he was drafted in the 4th round in 2008 by the Rams), he recorded 131 tackles (95 solo), 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery with 9 pass deflections.  He played in 35 games and started 19.

King is not a good corner, per say, but with the current players the Colts have I could see him as a starter.  I do not think that is as much about him as it is about the current situation the Colts have at corner, which hopefully will continue to be addressed this offseason.  Either way, he figures to get some good playing time next season for the Colts, whether good or bad.

King filled the Colts’ final roster spot which was created by the release of Jake Kirkpatrick earlier in the week.
