Colts Sign Donnie Avery; Bengals Sign Jamaal Anderson

The Colts have made another move today, signing wide receiver Donnie Avery to a one year deal.

Avery is a 4 year veteran and has 103 catches for 1,308 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Avery joins Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, and Blair White as receivers under contract for Indianapolis.  Collie is best in the slot, so Avery may actually play opposite Reggie Wayne.

I like this pickup.  The Colts needed a WR badly, and Avery is a solid player and a speedy deep threat.

Also tonight, Colts’ unrestricted free agent Jamaal Anderson signed with the Cincinatti Bengals.  He announced on twitter:

I’m excited to say I’m starting a new chapter in my career with the Cincinnati Bengals! Shout out to the #WhoDeyNation

Anderson was a very good free agent pickup for the Colts last offseason.  He had a very good year for Indy this year and I was hoping the Colts would re-sign him.  The Bengals got a good player in Anderson, and I wish him the best in Cincinnati.

On an additional note, Jason La Canfora reports that Colts’ free agent linebacker Phillip Wheeler will visit the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.  Wheeler is another Colt who I hope they re-sign.

    • He played well for the Colts last year. Was hoping they would re-sign him, but I understand how it works. The Bengals indeed are heading in the right direction.
