The Decision: Looking at the Indianapolis Colts’ Chances of Keeping Peyton Manning

The Decision: Looking at where Peyton Manning may end up if he becomes a free agent… today, we look at the:

Yes, I included the Colts in this discussion.

Because I still think there is a chance that Peyton Manning stays withIndianapolis.

Let me explain: Jim Irsay has said that if Peyton wants to be a Colt, they will make it happen but that he would need to restructure his contract.  A restructure is something that Peyton has reportedly offered other teams, but has yet to offer the Colts.

The Colts could keep both Manning and Andrew Luck because the new Collective Bargaining Agreement has a rookie salary limit.

But, with this whole series, if I thought there was a real chance of Peyton staying in Indianapolis, I would not have started it at all.

I am a Colts fan first, as hard as it may be to depart from Peyton.

From a diehard Colts fan, this team is still a few years away from a super bowl.  If Peyton stayed in Indy, the Colts would be a playoff team.  But there are so many holes to fill; I just do not see the Colts winning a super bowl in the next few years.  With a healthy Peyton, anything is possible, but it is unlikely.

And honestly, why would Peyton want to stay with an organization that has cleaned house, does not have enough talent, and that has a star rookie quarterback trying to take his job (Luck)?

I do not think that Peyton will be back in Indianapolis.

Chances of landing Manning:                      4/10

Chances of playoffs with healthy Manning:                       95%

Chances of winning super bowl with healthy Manning:   55%
