Andrew Luck: The Ultimate Scouting Report

ESPN’s NFL scouting experts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper put out on “It’s All About Luck: The Ultimate Scouting Report” about Stanford QB (and very likely future Colts QB) Andrew Luck.

It is a very good and interesting read and very easy to use.  I strongly encourage you to check it out.

For each of the 10 categories they analyzed, Kiper and McShay also showed their anaysis of Peyton Manning, John Elway, and Matt Ryan when they were entering the draft.  This is used in a system of numbering, 1-5, with 1 being the best and 5 the worst.  Here is the table, and it is very interesting (NOTE: I added in the totals at the bottom, to give a view of who was rated the best of the 4 coming out of college).  And also, check out the above link for an in-depth description of Luck in each of the categories.

Short Accuracy 1 2 1 1
Deep Accuracy 2 1 2 2
Arm Strength 3 2 1 2
Release 1 1 1 1
Pocket Presence 1 1 1 1
Mobility 4 1 2 1
Production 2 3 2 1
Toughness 2 2 1 1
Intelligence 1 2 1 1
  20 16 14 13
