Local FOX Station Shows Bears over Colts

With all the national attention this story is getting, I figured I should mention it.  It was on profootballtalk.com, and this morning I heard it mentioned on Mike and Mike in the Morning.

Basically, the Fort Wayne FOX Station, considered a “secondary market” for the Colts, decided to show the Bears-Raiders game at 4:00 instead of the Colts-Panthers game at 1:00.  Since CBS had the doubleheader, FOX could only show one game.

Justin Cohn of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette provided a good summary of what happened, along with quotes from the man who made the decision.

I can say that I feel for Colts fans.  I know many good, loyal Colts fans who would have still watched their team.  I think FOX really dropped the ball on this one.

Maybe it is time that Colts fans shed the reputation as fair weather fans.  They have that reputation, fair or not, and they can really impact that this year.  If they show up for home games and give good TV ratings, they could shed that reputation.  If they do not, they will likely have that reputation for a long time.

I just wish FOX would have given fans the choice for themselves.
