Week 9: The Last of the Winless…
November 6, 2011 Leave a comment
The Colts, with their 31-7 loss to the Falcons to drop to 0-9, are the last winless team in the NFL. The previously winless Miami Dolphins won 31-3 over Kansas City today.
And the Colts looked terrible in doing it. Curtis Painter was awfully terrible – even getting benched for Dan Orlovsky – and completed just 13 of 27 passes for 98 yards and an interception. Orlvosky looked better – he was 4/6 for 20 yards.
Donald Brown rushed well – 16 carries for 70 yards. He got most of the carries because Delone Carter (who got the start) fumbled on the second play of the game.
At least Pat McAfee punted well… 9 times. He averaged 50.1 yards per punt. He is having a good year.
The defense kept them in it- actually, they scored all the points for the Colts. Jerraud Powers picked off Ryan and took it back 6 yards for the touchdown. The D is not to blame for this game. The offense is.
The Colts are awful. If they do not win next week, they really might go 0-16. Jacksonville comes to Indy next week.
For those fans of “Suck for Luck”, the Colts are now in sole possession of 1st place. Honestly, for me, I am much less exited for Andrew Luck now that I think Peyton Manning would be gone if they get him. I know that the team has to put their future first. But Peyton has done so much for this team, this franchise, and this city that I would hate (absolutely hate) to see him end his career anywhere but Indianapolis. Ideally, Peyton would play for a few years and mentor Luck, then he would retire and Luck would take over for the next 12 years.
But, for those fans of “Suck for Luck” (which is the majority, it seems), there is hope. Dan Orlovsky and Ernie Sims know a thing or two about going 0-16.
