Feel free to panic…

Well, all along I have been saying Peyton Manning will definetly be ready for week 1. Guess what? He may not be. Colts owner Jim Irsay this morning tweeted this:
We r evaluating the QB sitch,#18 healing but we got 2 b prepared 4 early season possibility without him, defense has 2 pick it up,big time!
Again, back in May, Irsay said this procedure would not keep Manning out of training camp.
Manning never took a snap at practice in camp.
Irsay said that Manning would be ready for preseason.
It’s extremely doubtful Manning will play in any preseason games.
Irsay said Peyton would be ready for the season opener.
Now, Irsay is tweeting a strong suggestion that the Colts might need to prepare of Week One without Peyton. He also spoke about it last night during an interview in the booth with TV play-by-play man Don Fisher.
By all means, feel free to panic. Does anyone have Brett Favre’s phone number lying around somewhere?
For the first time, I am starting to sweat alot about Manning’s status. I don’t want to overreact to a simple tweet, but Irsay would not joke about an issue as serious as this.
It is now entirely possible that the only 4-time MVP, a guy who has NEVER missed a start, will sit out week one in Houston, maybe longer. For any Colts fan, this is definetly reason to panic.
But Irsay also said he wants a veteran QB. No Painter. If I were to bring in one guy to hold down the fort in early season, I would say Brett Favre. Most people hate Favre, but he is no doubt a great QB.
Nonetheless, this is reason to panic, Colts fans. Our franchise may not be playing in week 1.
